giddha

Giddha is the popular  folk dance of women in punjab region of india and pakistan.

• woman perform this dance mainly at festive or social ocassions.It is very colourful dance form which is now copied in all region of the country.In giddha different types of props are used to express our culture.
• this dance is derived from ancient ring dance and is just as energetic as bhangra.giddha is essentially dance in circle.Girls form rings and one of the dancer sit in the center of the ring with a dholki(drum).

• Now i willl start with that how giddha is performed among the people.In giddha different types of themes are used in the boliiyan or bolis such as excesses committed by husbands and mother in law.colourful dresses are worn by woman of India and Pakistan in giddha basically lengha or colourful shirts are worn.
• Giddha is basically a folk dance and like all the dances it is very much affair of the legs.so quick is the movement of feat is faster part.Punjabi folk is so much rich that even common man can feel's charm.
• If we talk of kikli it is more a sport than a dance.It is generally popular among young girls.Before beginning the dance,two girls stand face to face with their feet close to each other and their bodies inclined back.the standing in the pose usually arms are used to express the feelings.
• In giddha different things are done by the woman so that it can be more interested to the people.In this girls used different types of props also so that they can easily represent their culture.Different types of boliyan and dramas are done in it so that they can make fun of them which they don't like.
• there are many types of theme in giddha for example jago,tarigan and many more .
• jago is mostly performed on the marriage of girl or boy.At night they used to have this dance .In this they have the opposite party as well.They have compitition also .By doing is all they make the marriage more intertested and and everybody take part in it .
• Tarigan is also very popular theme of giddha .In old time when girls are free from work they usually meet with there friends and have fun .They all assembled at single place and have fun as well as they do their work also.

so these all the tghings are very popular at old time.as we see in this era that many school and collages have a lots of events so that everybody can remember their old culture.
